Semester Study Abroad
Students at the University of Dubuque are encouraged to include international study in their college careers!
According to University of Dubuque's Prof. Alan Garfield, "Travel takes students outside their comfort zones...which is, after all, where real learning happens."
We understand that applying for study abroad can seem like a complicated process. The Study Abroad Checklist has been designed by the International Studies Office to help you prepare and research your semester abroad options. The Checklist will refer to the Course Equivalency Form that must be filled out by your academic advisor and the Registrar.
Students also have the opportunity to enter the Study Abroad Photo Contest when they return from studying abroad, where they can share their favorite study abroad moments and photos with the UD community!
UD Sponsored Exchange Program
At the undergraduate level, UD is a member of the Business Education Initiative/Irish American Scholars program. Unaffiliated Study Abroad Programs:
UD students are welcome to attend other study abroad programs. The International Studies Office is happy to assist in each student's search for the program best suited to his or her needs and interests. To ensure that any courses taken will indeed be accepted by the University of Dubuque, students MUST obtain approval from their major advisor and the Registrar BEFORE attending any study abroad program.
Institutional aid (grants or scholarships from University funds) will not apply to study abroad programs that are unaffiliated with the University of Dubuque. However, upon completion of the Application for Study Abroad Approval form (available from the International Studies Office), the Office of Financial Aid will assist the student in accessing any available financial aid (this would include any Federal or State aid in the student's package).
